Schuster: Seabrook Goal Silences Boston Crowd
By David Schuster-
BOSTON (CBS) -- For once, the TD Garden Arena was silent. That was after Brent Seabrook scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the Blackhawks defeated the Bruins 6-5.
Seabrook gave credit to almost everyone and said he got by with a little help from his friends.
"(Patrick Kane) made a great play putting the puck on net and (Bryan) Bickell deflected it and all the guys got in front of the goal," Seabrook said. "It was a great play."
A great play indeed, and just the last of an offensive explosion that saw the Hawks finally penetrate the Bruins defense early and often.
Twice the Hawks opened up 2 goal advantages only to see Boston rally back and that was none too pleasing to Duncan Keith.
"At the end of the day we don't want to give up that many goals and to have that many swings in the game. But most importantly at the end of the day we're both victorious and happy," said the Hawks defenseman.
So now it's a best-of-three series with the Hawks regaining home ice advantage.
"It really doesn't mean much. Boston has played well in both their building and in ours. I don't think it matters where we play. It's a fact that this is an even series," said Patrick Sharp.
The series resumes on Saturday at the United Center.
