Schuster: Rose Feels Lucky To Have Avoided Serious Injury

By David Schuster--

UPDATE: Derrick Rose is listed as day-to-day after suffering multiple injuries in a win over the Indiana Pacers.

Derrick Rose says he hardly slept Monday night and that he felt like an NFL player after a game. Rose took a pounding in the win over the Pacers and after literally limping out of the locker room went home and soaked in a tub for hours.

X-Rays on Rose following a nasty fall proved to be negative on both his wrist and elbow and the Bulls' star guard said, actually what hurts the most is his hip. But in spite of all the pain and soreness Rose says he will play Wednesday night in Toronto. From now until then he will rotate ice and heat treatments with electrical stimulation added in. The hope is that most of that soreness will dissipate before game time Wednesday evening.

Some people questioned why Rose would go so hard to the basket with the game seemingly in hand, but he told us that he will always go hard no matter what the situation is. He also was trying to make a point Monday night as again the referees seemed to turn a blind eye to the physical contact he was getting. He shot only three free throws on the night and one time there was no call (either way) when he was clobbered on his way to the rim. Uncharacteristically, Rose then used a little potty mouth towards one of the refs who was so stunned by the display that it took him about 10 seconds to give the mild mannered Rose a technical. And take a snap shot of that moment because it may never happen again. It certainly has never happened before, and never means on ANY level.

Rose said he really felt bad because "He needs the money." He said there is a recession going on out here, and it was hard to tell if he was kidding. I actually don't think he was, but either way he can afford the fine. But one thing is for sure, the Bulls can not afford to lose him to any injury.
