Schuster: Noah Surgery A Success
By David Schuster--
The Bulls were nothing short of astounded that Joakim Noah was able to play with his injury for the last 3 weeks. That injury finally necessitated surgery which was performed successfully Thursday morning. Doctors repaired torn ligaments in his thumb and he will be out somewhere between 8-10 weeks.
This is the same injury that Kirk Hinrich had a couple years back and Hinrich missed 9 weeks and 31 games.
So now what will the Bulls do? General Manager, Gar Forman admitted that the team has already had internal discussions about either a signing or trade but for now will stick with what they have. That means that Kurt Thomas will see his minutes dramatically increase as will those of Omer Asik. Taj Gibson will also see increased minutes as the team will go small at times with a front line of Gibson, Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng.
The silver lining in this dark cloud is that Noah will be back around March 1 which will give him and the team about 6 weeks to once again jell. Will that be enough to allow them to make a deep playoff run? Stay tuned.
