Schuster: Hawks Lose A Big One
By David Schuster--
They called it the biggest game of the year going into Saturday night's contest vs. Anaheim and the 'Hawks were pretty glum after dropping a 2-1 decision.
The 'Hawks struck first in the 1st period when Marian Hossa notched his 22nd goal on the season but then it was almost like the team tried to sit on the lead the rest of the game and not force the action.
Corey Perry tied the game in the 2nd period with the first of his two goals and then won it in the 3rd when the 'Hawks couldn't clear the puck from their zone. The two goals gives Perry 44 tallys on the season which is tops in the NHL.
With the loss the 'Hawks drop further in the standings down to 8th place in the West and they are just barely ahead of two other teams trying to nose them out. And it doesn't get any easier as they are now on the road for the next three games starting with Detroit on Monday night.
