Schuster: Ground Hog Day For The White Sox
By David Schuster--
It was deja vu all over again for the Chicago White Sox as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Oakland A's. Just like the script in the movie "Ground Hog Day," the bad episode keeps repeating. On Saturday Juan Pierre dropped a flyball in the 9th inning and Matt Thornton blew a save and that's exactly what happened again Monday night.
Trailing 1-0 entering the 9th The A's tied it with a leadoff double and then the dropped ball by Pierre. And if you're keeping score at home that's now 0/3 in save opportunities for Thornton.
Mark Buehrle was cruising along with the 1-0 lead and didn't argue about being taken out of the game, but did admit afterward that he would have liked to try and finish the game.
The Sox only run came in the 5th on a Home Run by Brent Lillbridge and that was the 10,000th round tripper in franchise history.
Before the game Jake Peavy threw 32 pitches in the bullpen and said he felt no pain and he'll make his next minor league rehab start on Wednesday at Charlotte.
