Schuster: Derrick Rose Has An Ulcer

By David Schuster--

Derrick Rose has an ulcer. Actually he has two in his stomach. One is fairly large and the other is smaller. The news comes as a bit of a shock, most of all to Rose who thought he was coming down with the flu. He went to the hospital and doctors put a camera down his throat area and when he woke up from the procedure they showed him the photos of the ulcers.

How did they occur? Well, normally stress has a lot to do with ulcers, but in this instance Rose believes it was the excess of spicy foods that is causing the ailment. Rose kidded reporters that there is nothing to stress about this season. He and the team are playing well and all is fine in his personal life.  He went on to say that if this ailment cropped up either of the last two years then stress could have been a factor since the team was nowhere near as good.

So what will Rose now have to do to combat these ulcers? A change of diet is in order and he does have a chef who prepares his food and he will be taking medication, at least for a while. Rose admitted that he felt sluggish and hasn't practiced the last few days but said he hoped to play vs. Orlando Friday night.

Rose also talked about the impending news of him likely to be named a starter on the All-Star team. Although he called it a great honor, he also said it's not that big a deal to him. The one thing he wants more then anything else in basketball is to win an NBA title and is hopeful that will come this season.
