Schuster: Confusing Draft Night For Bulls

CHICAGO (WSCR) It was far from sexy but the Bulls came away satisfied with their draft. They came in with two first round picks plus a second rounder. After completing a complicated trade in which they dealt two of their picks the Bulls came away with forwards Nikola Mirotic and Jimmy Butler.
The paperwork has not been fully completed so the Bulls weren't able to talk about Mirotic but he is under contract with Real Madrid Spain for the next four years and has stated he wants to play out that contract. All along the Bulls said they might draft a player who wont join them for a while and Mirotic definitely fills that bill. He stands 6'10", weighs 225 pounds and is compared to Tony Kukoc.

As for Butler, he stands 6'8" and is a natural small forward who possibly could play some big guard in the NBA. He stands out on defense but needs to improve his outside shot.
The Bulls had a chance to draft some shooting guards but they obviously felt none of them would help them sooner than Butler will. General Manager Gar Forman has insisted all along that there are other ways to find players besides the draft and still points to possible trades or a free agent signing.
No doubt many fans will criticize what the Bulls did because they didn't get a "shooting guard", but when you draft as low as the Bulls did, you can't expect too much.
