Schuster: Carlos Boozer Makes Such A Difference
By David Schuster--
You're starting to see why the Bulls signed Carlos Boozer and you're also starting to see how he makes a difference. Boozer posted his first double double in a Bulls uniform as he and his teammates defeated Oklahoma City 99-90. The win made up for the loss to the Thunder on the opening night of the season.
Derrick Rose looked to establish Boozer right off the bat in this game and he definitely came through. Both early and often the rugged 6'9" forward was able to score in the post and periodically he hit shots from further out. There is no question that Boozer is already starting to add that inside scoring that has been missing here for years. He also plays better defense then advertised and if you're in the first 20 rows from the court you will hear him barking out instructions to his teammates.
In the long run Boozer's presence makes the other team's defense think about double teaming anybody. If they double team Derrick Rose, all he has to do is get the ball to Boozer in the post who will have single man coverage near the basket. And if they double Boozer then Rose will have a field day either penetrating in the lane or just shooting from the outside.
