Schuster: Bulls All Alone At The Top
By David Schuster--
With their 98-79 victory over the Washington Wizards the Bulls are now all alone a top the Eastern Conference. The win moved them a half game ahead of idle Boston with 16 games left in the regular season. Having the # 1 seed is obviously important because that will insure home court advantage in any series against Eastern Conference opponents.
Derrick Rose led the way Tuesday night with 23 points while Luol Deng chipped in with 20 and Keith Bogins had a season high 17 points including five 3 point field goals. Kurt Thomas hauled down 15 rebounds while Taj Gibson had 13 as they more then made up for the absence of Carlos Boozer (ankle) and Joakim Noah (under the weather).
The Bulls opened up a 17 point 2nd quarter lead only to see it shrink to 4 at half time. But in the 3rd quarter the Bulls opened it right back up and cruised to their 48th win of the season while improving to 30-4 at the United center this season.
Next up are back to back road games at New Jersey and Indianapolis on Thursday and Friday as the Bulls dearly want to hang on to that top seed in the East.
