School Bus Driver Charged With DUI
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago school bus driver has been charged with driving his bus while drunk and causing a series of accidents.
As CBS 2's Mike Parker reports, police say Joseph Moore was driving his school bus east on 69th Street at Wentworth Avenue Tuesday night. There were no children on board.
The bus struck a parked car, sending the car into a utility pole and damaging a red light photo enforcement camera. Out of control, the bus went up over a curb into the lawn outside a nursing home and crashed into a tree.
Amazingly, no one was hurt.
Tiesha Teague saw it happen.
"I'm like, the brakes gone on the bus or what? It was kind of scary," Teague said. "It looked like something out of a horror movie."
Authorities have charged Joseph Moore with two counts of driving under the influence and one count of negligent driving.
Moore reportedly worked for the Illinois Central School Bus Company in Lincolnwood.
Attempts to reach the firm for comment were unsuccessful. CBS 2 calls were not returned.
Another witness said she saw Moore take a field sobriety test at the scene. In her words, "he was obviously drunk."
CBS 2 was also unable to reach Moore for comment.
