Scheelhaase's Dad Banned From Illinois Campus
(CBS) Just days after he was arrested following a fight in the stands, the father of Illini quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase has been banned from the University of Illinois campus for one year.
Nate Creer was arrested and charged with resisting arrest during Illinois' 42-3 loss to Michigan State on Saturday. When an officer grabbed Creer's arm, he pulled away, prompting the arrest.
Creed told WCIA 3 in Champaign that he has never missed one of his son's games - a streak that dates back to Peewee football.
"Not knowing all about it, it's misfortunate, no question about it," Illinois head coach Tim Beckman said. "Nathan is a great young man, and I know he will be able to work through the situation. Nathan can control what Nathan can control."
