Scheelhaase's Dad Arrested After Fight In Stands At Illini Game
(CBS) This may just add insult to injury for Illini Nation.
During Illinois' 42-3 loss to Michigan State on Saturday, Nathan Cree, the father of Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest following an altercation with fans in the crowd.
The Tribune reports roughly 10 people were involved in the fight and it appears to have stemmed from one fan accidentally bumping into another.
Creer was removed from the stands for questioning, and when one officer grabbed his arm, he pulled away, prompting the arrest.
"If he would've just gone along with the program, gave us the information that we needed and cooperated with the officers we would've probably just removed him from the stadium," Illinois police captain Roy Acree said. "But it didn't work out that way."
Creer was transported to Champaign County jail and was released after posting $150 bond. He is due in court Monday.
The Ilini dad was on probation after being arrested for criminal trespassing of his ex-girlfriend's property in January.
