Schakowsky Leads Coaltion Against Republican Immigration Plan
Representative Jan Schakowsky led the coalition concerned about new immigration reform proposals to eliminate visas for diversity and family members like siblings.
"The idea essentially is, that Republicans are pushing, is that we want people who are highly educated, probably have more money to come to the United States, that somehow, those are more suitable immigrants to the United States," said Schakowsky.
Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar warned restricting visas to those with big paychecks and degrees would turn the U.S. into something like Dubai where guest workers end up sending all their paychecks back to their native home.
