Scattered Showers Return To Chicago Area, More Possible Thursday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- After getting a day to dry out on Tuesday, the Chicago area was getting more rain Wednesday morning, with even more possible on Thursday.
Around dawn Wednesday, showers were moving through the far southern suburbs near Kankakee, heading into northwest Indiana, while another rain cell was passing through the far western suburbs.
By 8 a.m., that second group of showers was passing through Chicago, bringing scattered rain to the city, as well as the northern and northwestern suburbs.
Meantime, the rain in the Kankakee area was sparking concerns about more flooding, along the swollen Kankakee and Des Plaines rivers, which were already at or beyond flood stage on Tuesday in some spots.
Rain also could put a bit of a damper on the Blackhawks' victory parade and rally on Tuesday, as there's a chance of showers Thursday morning. Temperatures should be in the upper 70s or low 80s, so even if it doesn't rain, it will be quite muggy for the big celebration.
Over the next two days, Chicago could get about 1.3 more inches of rain, with some areas south of the city getting up to 2 inches, and areas north of the city getting only a fraction of an inch.
Friday should be relatively dry and mild, with a high in the low 70s, ahead of a warm and wet weekend, with temperatures in the 80s, and scattered showers possible on Saturday and Sunday.
