Santo, Minoso Up For Hall-Of-Fame Again
(CBS) Cubs legend Ron Santo is once again a candidate for enshrinement into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Santo is one of 10 candidates on the Golden Era ballot, which was announced Thursday. The ballot also includes White Sox legend Minnie Minoso.
The Golden Era Committee, comprised of 16 members that include Hall of Famers, executives, historians and media members, will vote and announce the results at the Winter Meetings in Dallas Dec. 5. Candidates must receive 75 percent of the votes for induction.
Santo has been considered by the committee -- previously named the Veterans Committee -- before, but was denied each time. The former Cubs third baseman passed away last December.
Minoso has also been on the ballot before, most recently in 2007.
Other finalists on the ballot include Buzzie Bavasi, Ken Boyer, Charlie Finley, Gil Hodges, Jim Kaat, Tony Oliva, Allie Reynolds, Ron Santo and Luis Tiant.
If Santo and Minoso are not selected for enshrinement, they will not be eligible for another three years when the committee votes again.
