Sandberg named PCL manager of the year
According to the Des Moines Register, Iowa Cubs' manager Ryne Sandberg will be named the Pacific Coast League manager of the year today. In his first season as the manager of the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate, Sandberg's team stood 21 games over .500 entering yesterday's game.
The Iowa Cubs are currently in a battle for the PCL Northern Division Title with Memphis and Omaha.
Sandberg has been connected to the Cubs managerial position several years, and that talk has only intensified since Lou Piniella officially stepped down as manager.
