CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cubs great Sammy Sosa was back in Chicago Friday—and helping give back.

Sosa helped present a pair of $10,000 checks to first responder-related charities. CBS News Chicago caught up with Sosa at Chicago Fire Department Engine 98/Ambulance 11, 202 E. Chicago Ave., where he was signing autographs for first responders and Cubs fans.

Sosa was happy to be back in Chicago and giving back.

"For Club 400, I had to be here to support giving some charities some funds, so that way they can continue helping people—that's awesome," Sosa said. "I know one day, I'm going to come back to Chicago. This year, it's been twice already, so I will keep and continue coming. This is my town. They want me to be here. I'm really, really, really happy to see that."

Sosa will be part of the nonprofit charity organization Club 400 Cubs' 10th-anniversary bash Saturday night in northwest suburban Lake in the Hills.
