Salvation Army 'Red Kettle' Donations Down
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago area donations to the The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign are down 13 percent over last year.

At the same time, the continued weak economy has increase demand for aid, even in more traditionally affluent areas, says Maj. Greg Thompson.
Thompson said orders for groceries are up 50 percent in Oak Brook Terrace and a stunning 200 percent in Evanston.
The red kettles will go away on Christmas Eve, but people can still make holiday donations online or by mail through January.
