"The center provides a safe haven for people within the community, but also an opportunity where they can develop and flourish," said Program Development Officer Darlene Harvey

Harvey says the center offers structured activities, not only for teens but for the whole family.

"We also see this as an inter-generational facility where dreams are birthed for our young people and where they are nurtured and cultivated so that they can become reality," said Harvey.

There is homework help, a cultural exposure class, a teen sports club and a creative writing club. 250,000 people live within a three mile radius of the Kroc Center and more than a third is under 18.
