Salvation Army Provides A Helping Hand To Families In Need
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Salvation Army provides emergency assistance and much more to families in need throughout the Chicago area.
WBBM Newsradio's Bob Roberts spoke with one such mother, Antoinette Currin, a mother of eight who had no place else to turn.
"My benefits had stopped. I got behind in my rent," she said.

The Salvation Army pitched in with clothing, food, and activities for her children.
"You don't have to struggle. It's some help out there, you just have to go seek it. Salvation Army don't turn no one down," she said.
Emergency assistance case management director Carla Bell said the Salvation Army doesn't take a cookie cutter approach.
"We try to figure out the problem, figure out what the client has already put together, and try to build on that," she said.
Bell said the Salvation Army routinely works with clients for years. In Louisiana, 20 case workers still are assigned full-time to Hurricane Katrina victims.
