Barry Rozner, of the Daily Herald and The Score, wrote today about the future of Ryne Sandberg. Not too long after Mike Quade was named as the next manager of the Cubs, Sandberg announced that he wouldn't return as the Cubs Triple-A manager.
According to Rozner, Sandberg may be coaching in the minors next year. Rozner writes that both the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies have Triple-A openings, and he explains why the Phillies would be an interesting match.
Sandberg was drafted by the Phillies back in 1978 and Sandberg played in every minor league level before he was traded to the Cubs in 1981.
Although Sandberg didn't reveal to Rozner what teams had contacted him, he did say that there were several major-league and minor-league teams that he was in talks with.
Sandberg also believes that he will know within the next few weeks where his next job will be.
