Rosenthal: Castro for Epstein? 'Ridiculous'
(WSCR) There is little in the Cubs organization that would be off-limits as compensation for Theo Epstein, should the Cubs, Red Sox and Epstein work out a deal. But don't include Starlin Castro in the list of acceptable compensation.
At least, that's what Ken Rosenthal thinks.
"They're not getting Starlin Castro," Rosenthal told The Mully and Hanley Show. "If that is the price, I wouldn't do it. That's ridiculous. He is a GM, and there are other GMs they can go get. Go get another GM and still have Starlin Castro. How about that? … I do not give up Starlin Castro for him, not even close."

Rosenthal, however, did say that as the days go by, it is becoming more and more likely Epstein will end up on the North Side.
"With each passing day, I'd say the odds increase," Rosenthal said. "If I had to guess right now, I would say that the answer is yes. There are a couple of things to remember: No. 1, if he doesn't want to be there -- and we haven't heard him come out and say, 'This is over. I'm a Red Sox.' -- then I would imagine the Red Sox would say, 'If you don't want to be here, go.'"
So if the stars align and Epstein ends in Chicago, just how far off are the Cubs from ending their World Series drought?
"It's not as if this will happen next year. … But there is some talent there," Rosenthal said. "The guys up the middle are part of that, certainly. There is some young pitching and there's more young talent coming. If you're Theo Epstein and you walk in and take this job, the first thing you say, in my opinion, is, 'Listen, we're not here for one year, folks. We're here to build this thing long-term. We're going to do it right.'"
