Roseland Toddler Was Beaten And Suffocated
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 1-year-old boy found with bruises all over his body was beaten and suffocated in his Far South Side home, a Monday autopsy found.
Kingquintav Davis-Ringold was found unresponsive in his home at 30 W. 108th St. on Sunday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
An autopsy on Monday found the baby died of multiple blunt force injuries and suffocation from child abuse, and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.
Police were sent to the home at 1:05 p.m. Kingquintav's mother found him unresponsive, police said. The boy had been beaten on the stomach, chest and back.
A source said seven other children were removed from the home, although an Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services spokesman could not be reached to confirm that as of Monday afternoon.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating and it was unclear whether the mother was in custody.
