Rose Considers Playing Overseas

UPDATED 09/28/11 8:18 a.m.

(CBS) The reigning NBA MVP may be heading overseas, but he says he hopes he doesn't have to.

With the NBA lockout threatening regular season games, Derrick Rose told reporters Tuesday that he would consider playing overseas. He made the comments at a ceremony following the renovation of a basketball court at Murray Park in his native Englewood neighborhood.

"Yes, I am taking into consideration that I might move overseas," the Chicago Bulls guard said. "I don't know where. There are a lot of great places overseas. I haven't really had time to get the details of every place."

So for, the lockout has forced the first two weeks of training camp to be canceled and it is likely regular season games will soon be canceled.

"It's kind of weird knowing that I don't have a job right now," Rose said. "I haven't felt this way from high school. It's all positive, though. I'm hoping the season starts no matter when. Hopefully, I don't have to go overseas.

"I do miss talking to the people at the Bulls organization, my coaching staff. I miss that. But it's not stressful or anything. I'm not panicking. I'm taking my time."

Rose said he hoped he didn't have to use his passport, but of course, the situation is beyond his control.

"I really don't know right now," he said. "No one knows but the commissioner and all the other people, but I'm hoping that it is one; it's really not up to me. I think that's unnecessary where I think billionaires and millionaires shouldn't be arguing about money. There's other things in the world we should be worried about, other than that."
