Rose Not Far From Best PG In NBA

Leading up to the 2008 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls had a 1.7% chance of landing the top overall pick. Literally against all odds, the Bulls won that top pick and selected Derrick Rose. The rest, as they say, is history.

In his third year in the NBA, Rose has propelled himself into some league MVP talks and is considered one of the top point guards in the Eastern Conference.

"It's [Rose] or [Rajon] Rondo," K.C. Johnson, of the Chicago Tribune, said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "I remember hearing this discussion at the start of the season. At the time you project top five or top four, and by the end of the season you think he's going to be top one or two."

Rose has been able to do everything asked of him this season. He's scored when the team needed him to (7th in the NBA with 24.3 points per game) and been the facilitator to get the the ball to the rest of his teammates (8th in the NBA with 8.1 assists per game).

And when you add in highlight reel dunks like the one against the Detroit Pistons, there might not be a better point guard in the entire NBA.

"Obviously we're biased because we see him every night and we see the amazing growth that he's had on all levels," Johnson said. "I'll tell you what, if he continues to make the defensive strides that he has made. I think by the end of the season it's going to be him or Deron Williams as the best point guard in the entire game."
