Rose Likely Won't Sit On Bench During Games
(WSCR) As Derrick Rose continues to rehab from the ACL injury he suffered in last season's playoffs, he likely won't be watching Bulls games from the team's bench this season.
Having Rose sit on the bench, so close to the action, exposes the former MVP to possibly re-injuring his knee if a player were to collide with him on the sidelines.
"It depends on what's going to serve us best," head coach Tom Thibodeau said. "He's usually doing rehab during the games so I want that to be the focus. He may travel some. He may not. If it better serves us to have him here or someplace doing rehab, we'll do that. He's around the team plenty. We see him and he's working extremely hard so he's giving all that he can give at this time. At some point, he'll rejoin us and we'll move on from there.
The Tribune's K.C. Johnson reports Rose may even travel back to Santa Monica, Calif. to focus on rehabbing his knee during the season.
"Just concentrate on the rehab," Thibodeau said, when asked what he wants from Rose. "He's taking care of that. And the rest of the guys are taking care of being ready to play. At some point, he'll rejoin us. He's doing fine, working hard, coming along."
