Rose: 'I Wanted Some Revenge'
On December 18, the Chicago Bulls lost to the Los Angeles Clipper 100-99. With the game on the line, Bulls' point guard Derrick Rose missed a free throw that would have tied the game.
When the two teams met up again on Wednesday night Rose still had that bitter loss fresh in his mind.
"I wanted some revenge," Rose said after his 32-point performance in the Bulls' win. "It was because of me that we lost [in December], where I missed a free throw, and that really hurt me. If anything it made me stronger as a player."
The stronger player that Rose has become understands that anything can happen when a game comes down to the final seconds.
"In these types of games you never want to be in that situation where a free throw is the reason you lost a game," Rose said.
So Rose made sure that the rematch wouldn't come down to that. In the Bulls' 106-88 win over the Clippers on Wednesday Rose dropped 32 points and added 11 assists and three rebounds.
"We just wanted to come out here," Rose said, "play aggressive and try to take control of the game early."
The Bulls outscored the Clippers in every quarter, and Rose's efforts were even recognized by the fans at the Staples Center as they chanted "M-V-P" when Rose was at the free throw line.
