Rose Finishes Fourth In Most Improved Player Voting
CHICAGO (WSCR) Derrick Rose is the frontrunner to win this season's NBA MVP Award. But it wouldn't have been ridiculous to think that he could also be named the leagues' Most Improved Player.
Over the course of the 2009-10 NBA season, Rose averaged 20.8 points, six assists and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 26.7 percent from three-point range. This season Rose is averaging 25 points, 7.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game, and shot 33.2 percent from beyond the arc.
As impressive as those numbers are, Minnesota's Kevin Love took home the the league's MIP Award. Love increased his points per game by 44 percent and his rebounds per game by 38 percent. He became the first player to average at least 20 points and 15 rebounds since Moses Malone (24.5 ppg, 15.3 rpg) in 1982-83.
Love was the runaway winner of the award, finishing 243 points ahead of the runner up, LaMarcus Aldridge.
Rose finished fourth, but likely won't care as long as the Bulls make a deep run for an NBA Title, plus he's just waiting until the league hands him his MVP Award.
