Rookie Safety Brandon Hardin Carted Off Field With Neck Injury

SOLDIER FIELD (CBS) Saturday night's preseason game between the Bears and Redskins was delayed several minutes after rookie safety Brandon Hardin suffered a scary neck injury and had to be immobilized and carted off the field.
The Bears told 670 The Score's Zach Zaidman that Hardin never lost consciousness and has full movement in his arms and legs. After the game, Lovie Smith said he believed the rookie safety would be OK.
The Bears' third-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft went down early in the third quarter after leading with his head while tackling Redskins tight end Logan Paulsen. Hardin's teammates immediately signaled for the training staff, which was joined by paramedics on hand at Soldier Field. They removed Hardin's facemask and immobilized him on a backboard before loading him on the cart with his helmet still on his head.
Hardin was able to move both hands and raise his arms in the air after being put on the cart.
Fellow safety Chris Conte was also hurt in Saturday's game. The second-year player suffered a right shoulder injury in the first half and did not return. Smith does not believe the injury is serious.
