Romney Giving Obama A Run For The Money -- At Halloween Mask Shop
(CBS) – For people who want to be something scarier than a vampire or a ghost on Halloween, there's always this option: politician.
One of the biggest costume shops in the Midwest is already doing a brisk trade this October, as the presidential race heats up.
Political masks are big sellers at Fantasy Costumes, 4065 N. Milwaukee Ave., on Chicago's Northwest Side.
"We found whoever's mask sells out during an election tends to be the person who will win the election," assistant manager Cathy Bunger says.
So far, Republican Mitt Romney may have the edge.
"Romney has sold out once, so we had to re-stock. So we'll see. I don't know. When we sold out with Obama, he did win," Bunger says of the last presidential election, four years ago.
Another big item this year: Big Bird. The public television icon was singled out in the first presidential debate by Romney, who said he would end government subsidies to "Sesame Street" and other PBS offerings.
In less than two weeks, Fantasy Costumes will be open 24 hours through Halloween.
