Rollover Crash On I-57 Kills One Man, Injures Another
CHICAGO (STMW) -- One man was killed and another man was hurt in a rollover crash on Interstate 57 on the Far South Side early Sunday, State Police said.
The one-vehicle rollover crash happened about 3:40 a.m. in the inbound lanes of the expressway near 116th Street, Illinois State Police said.
The vehicle was travelling at a high speed when the driver lost control and struck the left curb, state police said. The vehicle then hit four posts at the edge of a ramp before becoming airborne, landing overturned in the left lane and coming to a stop in the median.
A 22-year-old man was killed in the crash and another man in his 20s is in "stable" condition at an area hospital, state police said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the man's death but was not releasing his identity Sunday afternoon pending notification of his family.
