Rollover Crash Leaves 3 Hurt
CHICAGO (STMW) - Excessive speed is suspected of causing a sport-utility vehicle to flip, sending three people to hospitals in serious to critical condition Saturday morning in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.
At 10:06 a.m., paramedics responded to 127th Street and Indiana Avenue for the crash involving victims who were pinned inside a sport-utility vehicle that flipped, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Kevin MacGregor.
The SUV was northbound on Indiana and apparently speeding when the driver lost control while taking a left to go west on 127th Street at a sharp turn, according to police. Indiana dead-ends at 127th Street.
Three occupants of the SUV were trapped inside and had to be extricated.
Two of them were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and one was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of County, MacGregor said. All three were in serious to critical condition.
Alcohol and drugs were not factors, and no citations have been issued as of 11:45 a.m., police said.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit was notified.
