Rogers: Help Could Be On The Way For Cubs
(WSCR) To put it simply, things are bleak for Cubs nation right now.
The team is 1-4 and it doesn't appear things will get any better with the current roster. One baseball expert, however, thinks there may be some hope coming for the North Siders.
"It's a lineup that is going to struggle to score in games," Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "Until June or July when they can figure out how to incorporate some young bats, we're going to be talking about what Brett Jackson did in Triple-A, what Anthony Rizzo did in Triple-A. ... I think that's sort of the interesting thing about this Cub team. They do have some parts in the wings that will at some point here in the course of the season come in and contribute. Marlon Byrd didn't have much of a spring training, coming off a down year in 2011. So far, he's continued to take up at-bats when you have Brett Jackson in the wing. How long will that continue?"

Though there may be no help in sight for the bullpen, the lineup could receive a makeover soon.
"The bullpen, I don't really see solutions in sight," Rogers said. "If they had really useful guys at Iowa that they could have put on this roster, they would have made the team out of spring training. They wouldn't have claimed Shawn Camp off of waivers. ... I think the bullpen is going to be a lingering issue, but I think with the lineup at least there are some guys that are in the pipeline that will be here probably sooner rather than later."
