Rogers: Cubs Will Be 'A Pleasant Surprise'
(WSCR) While there isn't much hope for a World Series on either side of Chicago, one baseball expert thinks one side might be a little more exciting than the other.
"The Cubs won 72 games last year," Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I'll bet you money that they win more than that this year. I don't think they should've been as bad as they were last year. I think if you look at the talent that is there and how shaky that division is, I think they're going to be a pleasant surprise. They're sorta setting themselves up to be, on a measured scale, a peasant surprise."

With run producers Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Pena gone, who combined for 173 RBIs in 2011, Rogers said the Cubs may receive some unexpected support from their highest-paid player.
"I think the Cubs think they'll get more out of Alfonso Soriano then has happened in the past," he said. "We'll see about that. If they could've traded Soriano, obviously they would have. I think they've evaluated Soriano and thought, 'This is a guy that is better than he has been.' They think they can get a better effort out of him."
