CHICAGO (STMW) -- A shootout between Chicago Police and two robbery suspects left one of the suspects, a 15-year-old boy, dead Wednesday night in the South Shore neighborhood.
The boy was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Tatiun Williams, of 1311 E. 69th St., who was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m. by authorities at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The incident unfolded about 8 p.m., when two Chicago Police sergeants were stopped by a person saying that two people just committed a robbery in the area of East 70th Street and South Cregier Avenue, police said.
The sergeants saw two people matching the description and ordered them to stop, police said. One of the suspects armed with a weapon in his hand turned in the sergeant's direction. The sergeant then shot the suspect, later identified by the medical examiner's office as Williams.
The second suspect was arrested, police said. A weapon and proceeds from the robbery were recovered at the scene.
No one else was injured, police said.
A spokesperson from the Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates all police-involved shootings, could not immediately comment.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
