Arkansas Man Robbed, Shot Dead After Asking For Directions
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 55-year-old man from Arkansas was killed early Thursday morning, when a gunman robbed and shot him, after the victim and his cousin had pulled over to ask for directions.
WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports a Robert Franklin, of Blytheville, Ark., and his cousin got lost while driving around the city, and stopped to ask for directions sometime before 4 a.m.
The man they asked for directions climbed into the back seat, announced a robbery, took cash from the two men, got out of the car, and then shot into the vehicle, hitting Franklin four times in the back.
Police said Franklin's cousin wasn't sure where they were when he asked for directions, so investigators don't know exactly where the robbery and shooting took place.
Franklin's cousin drove him to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he died.
