Rising Number Of Bat Rabies Cases Concerning For Head Of Will County Animal Control
(CBS) -- The head of animal control in Will County says he is concerned about the rising number of rabid bats found in homes this summer.
Just confirmed: a thirteenth case of rabies in a bat in Will County. That ties last year's number of 13 bat rabies cases and 13 is the most bat rabies cases ever recorded in Will County.

This latest case - like six of the other cases - comes from Homer Glen.
Will County Animal Control says at least four people are now getting post-exposure rabies shots after this latest incident and a dog on the property in Homer Glen is under observation.
The administrator of animal control, Dr. Lee Schild, says he is "increasingly concerned about the number of rabid bats" they're finding live inside homes - and saying people should find out how they're getting in.
