Reward Offered In 2012 Murder Of Man In West Pullman
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The parents of a 22-year-old man who was shot to death three years ago in the West Pullman neighborhood were back there today, asking neighbors to help find his killer, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.
Three years after his son's murder, Melvin Jacobs Sr. is still dealing with the pain.
"I tried to go forward with my life," he said. "Sometimes I wake up thinking about it."
Melvin Jacobs Jr. was at a birthday party three years ago at 116th and Peoria with his younger brother. They were at a porch when someone started shooting, killing Jacobs and wounding four others.

"Five people…that's insane," Jacobs Sr. said. "And nobody is saying anything?"
He says his son was not in a gang and people should be outraged.
"If the police shoot some black kid, you have all these protests and stuff like that, but when one of our own people shoots somebody that's black they don't say anything."
He said his other son has grown distant since his brother was murdered.
Jacobs' step mother LaToya Jacobs says he was just about to start a job as a union painter.
"He wasn't a bad kid, he was a sweet, loving kid," Jacobs said.
George McDade with Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward.
"I am asking the community to give us information on somebody who did that murder, but at the same time, we offer anonymity," McDade said. "I don't want to know who you are."
