Rotting Meat Creates Disgusting Mess Near Curie H.S.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- After more than a week of letting piles of rotting meat stink up part of the Archer Heights neighborhood, crews finally arrived Thursday morning to get rid of the disgusting mess.
WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports someone dumped lots of cardboard boxes filled with rotting meat along a fence near 49th Street and Hamlin Avenue, at the edge of Curie Park, just feet from Mike Anderson's house, and down the block from Curie High School.
"Piles of meat that have been dumped here, and been sitting here for a week and a half; I think most people think it's a public health hazard," he said.

Anderson said he repeatedly contacted the city, but nothing was done to remove the piles of meat until around 10 a.m. Thursday.
"I can't think of a worse smell than rotting meat," he said. "In the heat of the day, it's just cooking, and there's clouds of flies. It's incredibly disgusting."
Anderson said he's been burning incense inside his home to mask the smell. He said the only upside has been homeless people haven't been sleeping there anymore.
"This keeps the homeless people away," he said.
There reportedly had been some confusion about cleaning up the mess, because the city also was dealing with a hoarder in the area who had rotting meat in a car, and who might have dumped the meat found near Anderson's house.
