Residents Rally In Englewood After Another Child Shooting
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Residents in Englewood called for their community to take back their streets on Wednesday, the day after a six-year-old was shot, caught in a hail of bullets from a gang.
Tacarra Morgan was shot in the stomach and is recovering at the hospital.
"The first thing she said when they took the tube out is, Mom I want to go home," said Tacarra's mother, Carolyn Morris.
On Wednesday night, residents gathered for Operation Wake Up, not only for Tacarra but for three others under the age of eight shot in the neighborhood recently.
They urged residents to sign up and help make their community safe from the ones that indiscriminately fired dozens of bullets, one that hit Tacarra as she tried to run from her front porch.
