Rescues Outweighed Plowing In Elk Grove Village
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. (CBS/WBBM) -- Several Elk Grove Village residents believe officials did a great job with snow removal, but some admit it appears officials are now playing catch up.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Mary Frances Bragiel reports, the northwest suburb's mayor, Craig Johnson, says there are a couple of reasons.

At the height of the snowstorm, more than 100 vehicles got stuck on Busse Road.
"What happened was a lot of our companies let their second shift out early, stayed and got into the road," Johnson said.
Thus, Johnson says he was forced to take the trucks off plowing duty, in order to rescue the stranded motorists.
In addition, he says the village had more than two dozen emergency calls, which meant assigning the plow trucks to ambulances in order to get those in need the medical care that was warranted.
Dave Hendrickson, who has been a resident for decades, says he didn't notice any delays.
"No problems here, no," Hendrickson said. "There's a lot of snow to dig out, though. It was a big one. It was a big snow."
