Police Recover Woman's Body From Chicago River
(STMW) --Chicago Police recovered the body of a woman who was last seen jumping in the Chicago River Friday afternoon.
The body of the woman, who has not yet been identified, was recovered from the river by the police Marine Unit about 6:45 p.m., said police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
Emergency crews were called to the 300 block of West Roosevelt Road about 2:45 p.m. after receiving reports of the woman jumping from a bridge into the South Branch of the river, authorities said.
Fire department divers searched the area where she was last seen, but their efforts were limited due to "dangerous debris" in the water, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The fire department ended its rescue efforts by 4:15 p.m. Chicago Police were called to use SONAR equipment to assist in the search for the woman's body.
