Report: Yankees To Pursue Zambrano
The Yankees lost out on the Cliff Lee sweepstakes, and according to a report, they now have their eyes on Cubs' pitcher Carlos Zambrano.
Bill Madden, of the New York Daily News, is reporting that after not acquiring Lee, the Yankees will likely target Zambrano. The Yankees would like to reunite Zambrano, who turned around his attitude and performance in the final weeks of the season, with former pitching coach Larry Rothschild.
Rothschild left the Cubs' organization this offseason after spending nine seasons as the pitching coach.
Madden also reports that with the money saved from not acquiring Lee, that re-signing former Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood will also be a priority for the Yankees.
