Report: Woman Gets 3 Years For Slamming Into Wheaton House While Driving Drunk
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- A Downers Grove woman who was drunk when she drove into a Wheaton family's living room has been sentenced to prison time.
As WBBM Newrsadio's Mike Krauser reports, Allison Smolinski, 23, pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence, and was sentenced to three years in prison by DuPage County Judge George Bakalis, the Daily Herald reported.
Prosecutors said she had been involved in three crashes in less than an hour back on Jan. 10.
A Wheaton family was watching TV in their home at Farnham Road and Huntley Court, when Smolinski drove her tree into a sport-utility vehicle and right through the exterior wall of the house, the newspaper reported.
Nobody in the house was hurt. Smolinski and a passenger were treated at a local hospital, the Daily Herald reported. Smolinski suffered a neck injury, while the 27-year-old man riding with her suffered a 3- to 4-inch gash to his head, the newspaper reported.
Police say Smolinski hit two other cars before the crash, and might have been the cause of a rollover crash on Interstate 355 when witnesses reported someone "swerving all over the road," the Daily Herald reported.
