Urlacher Could Miss Rest Of Season With Hamstring Injury
(CBS) The Bears defense was dealt a heavy blow Tuesday afternoon when news broke that middle linebacker Brian Urlacher could miss the rest of the season with a Grade 2 hamstring strain.
The Tribune reported Urlacher is expected to miss at least three weeks, but could be done for the remainder of the season. The 34-year-old Urlacher strained his hamstring on the second to last play of overtime in the Bears' loss to the Seahawks.
As insurance, the Bears re-signed linebacker Dom DeCicco to a two-year contract.
DeCicco was released by the team three months ago following an injury settlement. He will provide depth on the 53-man roster, but Nick Roach will likely fill the middle linebacker spot if Urlacher can't go, as he has done in the past. Geno Hayes will take over for Roach on the outside.
The Tribune's Brad Biggs also reported the Bears will put wide receiver Terrence Tolliver through a tryout. The tryout comes one day after head coach Lovie Smith the team would not go outside the organization for wide receiver help.
