Report: White Sox Among 'Most Likely Choices' For A-Rod
(CBS) Alex Rodriguez's days with the Yankees appear to be numbered.
As his playing time decreases, the chances of A-Rod welcoming a trade out of the Bronx increases.
According to a USA TODAY report, Rodriguez, who holds a full no-trade clause, would not ask for a trade, but would welcome a trade to another big market. The report says the Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox are "the most likely choices".
The problem, of course, is the money. Rodriguez is still owed $114 million over the next five years. The White Sox can't afford to add a lot of salary so the Yankees would have to pick up most, if not all, of the contract.
White Sox general manager Kenny Williams has a knack for adding veteran players on the back end of their careers and there could be an opening at third base if the Sox decide not to bring back Kevin Youkilis.
But would a declining A-Rod be an upgrade?
