Report: T'Wolves Only Discussing Love Trade With Cavs
(CBS) The Bulls' pursuit of Kevin Love is at a halt.
The Timberwolves are now only discussing a Love trade with the Cavaliers, ESPN.com reported, which has added to "the growing belief around the NBA that Love teaming up with LeBron James is inevitable."
Cleveland is reportedly offering a deal centered around top overall draft pick Andrew Wiggins, 2013 top pick Anthony Bennett and at least one future first-round pick. Wiggins can't be traded until Aug. 23, per NBA rules, because he signed his rookie deal with the Cavs last week.
From ESPN.com:
Sources said this week that Chicago essentially has conceded to the Cavs, knowing it can't furnish a player with both Wiggins' superstar potential and his favorable rookie-scale contract.
Chicago reportedly formulated an offer for Love that included Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and other assets. Rookie Nikola Mirotic also had his name thrown in trade speculation, though he and McDermott couldn't be moved for about three more weeks after recently signing their deals.
The most recent ESPN.com report echoes a recent Chicago Tribune report that said, "Talk of the Bulls offering McDermott and Nikola Mirotic to the Timberwolves was overstated."
At three-time All-Star, the 25-year-old Love averaged 25.9 points and 12.4 rebounds last season.
