Report: Twins To Host 2014 All-Star Game
(WSCR) It looks as if the Major League Baseball All-Star Game is heading north.
According to a report, Major League Baseball will announce Wednesday that the Twins will receive the 2014 All-Star Game at Target Field.
While nothing is official until Bud Selig and Co. make the official announcement, the Star-Tribune in Minnesota reported the Twins have begun inviting former Twins All Stars and local dignitaries to a special ceremony taking place at Target Field on Wednesday.
"We hope that [an official announcement is] imminent," Twins CEO Jim Pohlad said. "The amount of communication with Major League Baseball has picked up, but ultimately the commissioner decides."
This would mark the third time the Twins have hosted the All-Star game. The first came in 1965 at Metropolitan Stadium and the second in 1985 at the Metrodome.
"It's more about what it means to the city and the state," Pohlad said. "We're a part of this community. We're excited to bring the All-Star Game here, so we can show everyone this ballpark."
