Report: Tribune May Introduce New Books Section
CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you've been missing the old Chicago Tribune Books section since its demise for the newspaper's 2008 redesign, you may be in luck.
Crain's Chicago Business reports the Tribune is planning to include a new weekly literary review.
The new section, called "Printers Row" in a prototype uploaded by Crain's, will include fiction contributions, the latest on the Chicago literary scene, and a list of bestsellers.
The prototype also features "That's Entertainment," where Tribune and CBS 2 Theatre Critic Chris Jones will look at new arts and entertainment books and recordings.
But there is a catch. The Tribune is hoping to charge up to $2 for the add-on, Crain's reported.
The new section has yet to be approved, but was discussed at a meeting just this past month, according to Crain's.
The old Tribune Books section was done away with in September 2008, when the newspaper underwent a sweeping redesign that turned the broadsheet into a tabloid format, and also collapsed the local and business sections into the main section and combined many of the features.
The newspaper underwent another redesign this past June, which involved the addition re-addition of some pages of news and some other reversals.
