Report: Sox To Name Parent As Bench Coach; McEwing To Coach Third
(CBS) According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, the White Sox will announce the hire of Mark Parent as bench coach Tuesday when they formally introduce manager Robin Venture during a press conference at U.S. Cellular Field.
Parent, 50, managed Double-A Reading, the Phillies minor league affiliate, to a 74-68 record in 2011. He and Ventura were represented by John Boggs during their playing days.
The Tribune is also reporting that Joe McEwing, the current manager of the White Sox's Triple-A Charolette, will take over for Jeff Cox as third base coach.
McEwing and Ventura were teammates together with the New York Mets.
